STUPID NEWS HEADLINES

This was one of the feature stories on Arizona's news last evening....

Now any time anyone is killed in an automobile accident, it's a tragedy...

But you think maybe the advice might have been more relevant before the accident?

After the accident, why not let people grieve?

  1. If the advice was helpful to the grieving process then maybe it was worth offering. There is not much here to indicate what advice was given and to whom. If the advice would help someone else from doing the same thing that happened in this accident then that advice could also be warranted.

    1. Lee-

It's really the new channel's tag line I am mocking-I am sure the pastor was not issuing safe driving advice to the family.

Make no mistake-the death of the child is a tragedy-I would never make light of that.

But as a writer, I am sure you can see where I found their phrasing kind of amusing...

  2. CW-

I was concerned people might think this poked fun at the tragic event, not the phrasing of the news headline, but you seemed to track.

If newspapers are written for a sixth grade audience, I wonder what age level the television news targets?
