CONQUISTADOR

Boko Haram is back in the news.

Yep, that band that brought you “A Whiter Shade Of Pale” back in the sixties is back together.

This time, the lyrics are somewhat stronger ("Anyone who is not governed by what Allah has revealed is among the transgressors").

A lot darker than "skipped the light fandango."

Sorry. Bad joke.

My apologies to Reid and Brooker.

And to more than two hundred Nigerian families who are victims of this group of chickenshit cowards.

Also known as The Congregation of the People of Tradition for Proselytism and Jihad, this “organization” was founded in 2002 with a mission to establish a "pure" Islamic state and putting a stop to what it deems Westernization.

Boko Haram promotes a version of Islam which makes it "haram", or forbidden, for Muslims to take part in any political or social activity associated with Western society.

The group of "soldiers" is known for bombing churches, mosques, and schools, as well as kidnapping western tourists.

All viable military targets, right?

Violence linked to the Boko Haram "insurgency" has resulted in an estimated 10,000 deaths between 2002 and 2013.

Their most recent act of “war?”

Storming a secondary school and taking more than 200 girls (who were taking exams) hostage.

Boko Haram has offered to release the girls in exchange for the release of its group who are prisoners, according to a video posted on YouTube on Monday.

I didn’t think it was possible to make other terrorists look better, but in a world of cowards masquerading as freedom fighters, these guys are the lowest of the low.

They are pussies.

Who the f@#k attacks a bunch of teenage girls?

What's next? The pre-school cricket team? Better break out the heavy artillery.

Consider this.

These high school girls knew that there was risk in attending classes due to Boko Haram’s history of attacking schools, and they still attended classes and took their finals.

THAT is courage.

Boko Haram, tough guys that they are, attacked a high school with automatic weapons.

That is CRAVEN.

The Nigerian government did not release the story for a WEEK and has REFUSED HELP in finding the girls.

Makes you wonder whose pocket their president is in.

I pray these girls are returned home safely.

And while I am normally not in favor of armed aggression, if a few C4 charges happened to be misplaced somewhere in the Boko Haram camp, I do not think I would shed a tear.

There’s a way to effect change.

Making war on teenage girls is not the way.

  1. One of the local radio stations used the Procol Harum joke yesterday when they used the orchestral opening as the lead-in to their commentary about the Nigerian update.

It took mainstream media long enough to find this story. Shortly after it happened II was following the story on the Bare Naked Islam site where they report all the news we typically never hear.

It still pisses me off when I remember the words of George Bush after we first attacked Afghanistan. "This is not a war against Islam." He should have said it was because that's what it should have been and that's now what the current administration is not trying to make it either. Islamists know what it is. Why don't we get down with the truth? Or would we rather just roll over and let the Jihadists win?

    1. I don't know how you'd win such a war, though, Lee-not all followers of Islam are bombing churches and mixing it up with teenage girls.

But certainly, the faith seems to be at odds with the entire concept of Western civilization (whether the followers act or not).

I am glad to see Nigerians standing up in protest.

Robin raises some good points in her comments below, and Stephen touches on another.

      The culture enslaves women.

And the men in the culture are often hypocrites. I have heard of many examples where "devout" Muslim men come to NYC and whoop it up, only to go back home and act devout.

My father and I did not always agree on things, but as far as I saw, he walked it like he talked it as a devout Catholic.

Not just when it was convenient for him. And he did not cast it aside when he could enjoy the indulgences.

A long time ago, Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens) wrote a nice letter to Goldmine asking the world to understand that not all of Islam subscribe to the ideals of Al Queda.

I think he may be the Islamic minority.

    2. My problem is the Koran and what it teaches. Do all Muslims believe it to be true? It's easy for the moderate and the Americanized Muslims to say they are not like the extremists, but what is their endgame? We hear some mild obligatory condemnations of certain extremist groups, but not across the board.

If they believe in the Koran and hope for the outcome of it's prophecies then they are against the Christian world. Verses such as:

And fight them on until there is no more tumult or oppression [Fitna], and there prevail justice and faith in Allah altogether and everywhere; but if they cease, verily Allah doth see all that they do.
      Qur'an 8:39

don't not hold much promise for peaceful co-existence of Islam and any other religion. An Islamic scholar interprets that verse as:

So fight them until there is no more shirk, and none is worshipped except Allaah alone with no partner or associate, and trials and calamities, which are disbelief and polytheism, are lifted from the slaves of Allaah on earth, and religion is all for Allaah alone, and so that obedience and worship will be devoted to Him alone and none else.
      Tafsir al-Tabari

By saying "with no partner or associate" could this guy be possibly referring to My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ? I see this as blasphemy, but he has the right to say it. God will be his judge. But under Islamic rule if I declare that Mohammed was a false prophet it's off with my head. This type of religious intolerance is not acceptable in my thinking. If there is not war now then the war will come because Islam has declared it against all who don't believe the false claims of their belief system.

The spokesmen like Cat Stevens are lying ( taqiyya) to lead the world into a deception that they would accept Islam. No fan of Stevens here. They can be nice all they want. They have to for the purpose of public relations.

    3. I don't pretend to know the Koran, so I can't dispute any of the above. I did believe Stevens' letter was sincere when I read it, but who knows.

Most of Stevens' musical output came pre-Islam, so it's probably OK to like songs like "Peace Train" and "Father To Son."

  2. I thought the band was Procol Haram. Is Boko Haram and the band literally one and the same? I am confused about the beginning of this blog bit.

I did follow what you said about Boko Haram being Islamic terrorists and the attack/kidnapping of 200 school girls. I think that they target young women learning to read with specific intent. An educated person is a scary person. An educated person who chooses to educate herself with a philosophy other than that of Islam... horribly scary. If the Islams allow this to happen, they could lose their tight control over future generations. They must stomp out independent learning as quickly and painfully as possible. I think the idea of young men learning independently - also not a good thing - but allowing WOMEN to do it. Well, that is abhorrent. Women have no place knowing how to read or think for themselves. It is a moral imperative to nip that in the bud. Nothing scarier to a full grown Islamic man than a young women who can out-read or out-think him. Can you imagine the humiliation of losing a debate to a schoolgirl? Off with her head...

    1. The band was Procul Harum...a bad joke on my part. When I first heard the news story, I though they'd said "Procol Harum).

The idea of a group of armed men with machine guns storming a school is simply offensive to me.

      I never did like bullies...

Oh, but it's OK to use YouTube when it suits their purposes?

Do they have a Facebook account where they encourage other extremists to "Like" them?

Do they Tweet "Death to all Westerners!"?

I sure hope Jesus returns soon to put an end to this whole messy world.

    1. Funny how these groups bend their own rules to suit their purposes.

They've threatened to sell the girls into slavery...sounds liek Western commerce to me!

  4. Here's a link to a 5 min. video that explains the Boko Haram issue very well:

I received this a few minutes ago through BNI and this guy seems to know his stuff very well. What he says makes total sense.

    1. Thank you for sharing that video, Lee. I posted this video on my blog several years ago. It was greeted with a great deal of hate by people who didn't want to hear it. I closed the comments on that video and haven't gone there again. But, that doesn't make the truth not the truth... whether people want to hear it or not.

Maybe this will make it even more clear for you.

    2. Lee.

Islam sounds like a very disciplined religion. They abstain from sex.

      Except with their wives.

      Oh yeah, and SLAVES!

Not really much discipline there-not to mention women are reduced to property. I knew women were a lower class in most Islamic countries-had no idea they were pets.

I still cannot bring myself to advocate waging an unprovoked war against Islam, but it makes the assault this country is waging on Christianity even more tragic.

I am still all for tolerance....but we live in a country founded by Christians with a governmental charter based on Christian values.

And all of our problems started when we threw that recipe away in the name of tolerance.

Tolerance does not mean embracing differing points of view...it means tolerating them.

Our culture needs to return to the days where those Christian values are embraced and taught, or we may see a world with one religion (Islam) in our lifetimes.

      Thanks for posting the link...

    3. Robin-

Don't remember this one on your site, and just watched your link.

I hate to think that letter from Cat Stevens I referred to above being a deception on his part.

But this video is actually scarier than Lee's.

Sadly, if America keeps going the way it is, Islam will win.

Europe is already pretty much an atheist continent, and we are well on our way.

How many generations before the only people raising their children in any faith are the followers of Islam?

      Scary.

    4. I did want to acknowledge that back in 2001 or 2002 when I read that letter from Cat Stevens, Stephen T. McCarthy had told me some of the points contained in these two videos and I never went and did the research.

Up until a half hour ago, I was part of the problem.

We want to, and we SHOULD believe the best about people until the facts prove otherwise.

It sounds like the facts do prove otherwise. While I would venture to guess there are many followers of Islam who are as casual as many followers of Christ (who therefore may not be militant), I do not think it benefits the West to assume anything different than Islam is our to subvert our way of life.

I still maintain we need to lead by example and stay true to our values...we should not persecute followers of Islam or seek to do them harm, but this nonsense of redefining our society to accommodate them needs to stop.

    5. I'm also very disturbed by the fact that Muslims and other groups can ridicule and threaten Christianity, make fun of and try to discredit Christian leaders and those who speak in defense of Christianity, and generally attack the Christian faith in any way they choose and freely speak what is blasphemy to Christians. Then if a Christian speaks the truth or voices any disagreement about a belief system or lifestyle then they are labelled as having a "phobia" and demands are made to silence them and take away their right to freedom of speech. Just look at our public schools and the university communities--Christianity is always under attack and attempts are made to silence Christian voices.

Christians are continually accused of "hate speech" while others are merely expressing their right of freedom of expression.

    6. You're just prejudiced against other religions, Lee!

There is a war on Christianity in this country, Lee, and I believe it's for the reasons laid out in that song by John Lennon...or is it that manifesto by Marx?

Replace God with Government. Imagine...no religion, too

You'd never commented on the post I put up right at the end of March (so you may not have seen it, being preoccupied with A2Z), but the attack on the Christian faith is a real and present danger.

    1. CW...I won't rehash everything I said above, but while I made the joke about C4, I still think we need to continue to take the higher ground.

We're better than they are. At least our ideals are. And our behavior should also be.

I'd feel differently if a response to an attack were needed, but I still feel that the way America responded to the reported death of Bin Laden was a disgrace.

We should be better than that.

We can be better than that.
